LES RUSSES À JOHANNISBURG. IRRÉSISTIBLEMENT LES RUSSES REFOULENT DEVANT EUX LES ALLEMANDS ET AUTRICHIENS.
La formidable pesée russe agit sur l’adversaire d’une façon terrible. Après une offensive en Prusse Orientale, qui fut très heureuse, les Russes se replièrent jusque dans Varsovie, forçant ainsi les Allemands à une offensive qui nécessita l’envoi d’armées très nombreuses et leur fit aussi dégarnir leur front occidental. Les Russes ne laissèrent pas le temps aux Allemands et aux Autrichiens de se constituer des retanchements [sic], ils fondirent sur eux et firent des milliers de prisonniers : dans leur retraite désordonnée les Germains abandonnèrent matériel et blessés. Pendant cette brillante offensive l’infanterie russe fit des prodiges, ses vaillants fantassins combattirent avec le mépris le plus absolu de la mort. Dans différents combats, et notamment autour de Johannisburg, l’infanterie russe exécuta des charges à la baïonnette avec une magnifique impétuosité (Novembre 1914)
The Russians at Johannisburg. The Russians overwhelmingly drive back the Germans and Austrians.
Mighty Russia is weighing on his opponent in a terrible manner. After an offensive push in East Prussia, which went very favourably, the Russians retreated to Warsaw, forcing the Germans to an offensive that necessitated sending numerous troops, making them strip their western front. The Russians did not allow time for the Germans and Austrians to form trenches; they fell upon them and took thousands of prisoners. In their disorderly retreat the Germans abandoned equipment and wounded men. During this brilliant offensive move the Russian infantry achieved wonders, their valiant foot soldiers fought with utmost disregard for death. In various battles, notably around Johannesburg, the Russian infantry carried out bayonet charges with wonderful impetuosity (November 1914).
